Positive Lacrosse

The content on this page is brought to you by the NJ Lacrosse  Foundation's Sportsmanship and Ethics Committee. This committee has been established to perform the following:

  • Conduct Positive Lacrosse Experience Workshops
  • Attend executive board meetings of boys and girls youth  programs to assist in applying strategies learned in the workshops
  • Present helpful materials to assist in developing and  enforcing the concepts of positive sportsmanship
  • Formalize  communication process with necessary contacts to ensure information is  shared, understood and enjoyed by all lacrosse participants.

Two critical tools have been created by this committee, and are available via this website to assist in the communication and sharing of information that can facilitate the building, and development of, a positive environment for all of us to enjoy this season:

  • The Partnership Agreement: This form has been created to assist those programs looking for a  templatethat can be used to formalize your commitment to building and developing a positive culture within your program. Many programs have their own policies (i.e., Code of Conduct, Zero Tolerance), however, this was created to provide an alternative that can be used in its entirety, or certain segments you find most helpful. It serves as an example of something  that can be used to ensure discussion and commitment to sportsmanship is  achieved within your program.. Click here to download the agreement.
  •
  • The Feedback Form: This form has been created to assist in the communication and sharing of behaviors (role model and undesired) experienced at lacrosse games, tournaments and events. When a lacrosse participant  (coach, parent, official, athlete) has witnessed behavior worth documenting, they can fill out the form below and send it to the contact listed on the  form.  Pleasenote that this form is not to serve as an opportunity to create  the need for a lot of effort without much opportunity to modify behaviors. On the contrary, it was produced to assist in documenting behaviors that can serve as great examples of behavior we should try to replicate within lacrosse and are worthy of recognition, or that can identify opportunities  for improvement and/or coaching to improve behaviors and prevent  future "incidents" or "issues". Your input is both valuable and critical  to improving the environment in which this game is played. Click here to download the agreement.
